Kostas Grammatopoulos was born in Athens in 1916. After his studies at the Athens School of Fine Arts (1934) he worked on the design of patriotic posters against the war of Italy against Greece. In 1949 he was awarded by competition the commission for illustrating the elementary school book 'Reader' (1st prize, Leuven, Belgium). In 1972 he was awarded a Gold Medal for engraving at the Florence Biennale. His works can be seen in permanent exhibition in National Galleries, as well as in public and private collections worldwide.
